MPs dissatisfied with the work of the General staff on the organization of protection of depots and arsenals.
The Committee of the Verkhovna Rada concerning national security and defense decided to appeal to the President Petro Poroshenko with a proposal to dismiss the chief of General staff Viktor Muzhenko. Deputies believe that he had made systematic errors in work on the safe storage of ammunition, which eventually led to the explosions in warehouses in Balakliya, Kalinovka and others.
This decision was taken at the Committee meeting on Wednesday.
The Committee also offers to dismiss the head of the Military police.
In addition, the Committee appealed to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groisman with the proposal to allocate unused funds from the budget of the Ministry of defense to improve the survivability of munitions.
