The U.S. state Department found a replacement for Victoria – special representative for Ukraine appointed Kurt Volker. This Bloomberg reporter Jennifer Jacobs wrote on Twitter.
“As a representative for Ukraine, the Walker will manage the attempts of the state Department to resolve the conflict that was created after the Russian invasion in Crimea and Eastern Ukraine”, – she wrote.
We will remind, in April the American media wrote that the state Department’s special representative will be to communicate directly with the Russian presidential aide Vladislav Surkov about Ukraine.
According to BuzFeed, the introduction of such a position was supported by German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Earlier contacts with Surkov, who, according to former leaders of the breakaway LC and the DNI oversees the policy of the unrecognized republics, engaged Victoria Nuland.
But it was not her primary responsibility, as she has held the position of assistant Secretary of state for European and Eurasian Affairs.
Kurt Volker, a former analyst at the CIA, where he worked from 1986 to 1988, before moving to the foreign division of the US state Department. In 1999 he became the Deputy us Ambassador to NATO.
He then held various posts in the national security Council until 2008, was appointed by President George Bush, U.S. Ambassador to NATO.
In 2009 he left the post. Two years later, moved into the Washington lobbying firm BGR Group.
