United States decided to lift economic sanctions against the Sudan in connection with the recognition of stable and positive actions of the government of this country. This was reported by the press service of the US Department of state.
The state Department said that the Sudanese authorities are working to maintain the cessation of hostilities in conflict areas, has improved humanitarian access throughout the country and support the cooperation with the US to resolve regional conflicts and threats of terrorism.
“This became possible thanks to the dedicated 16-month-old diplomatic efforts to achieve progress in Sudan in these key areas,” – said in the state Department.

Washington said that will continue efforts to improve bilateral relations with Sudan and to use additional tools to pressure the government of Sudan or prevent the deterioration of the situation.
“The actions of the government of the Sudan for the last nine months show that it is serious about cooperation with the United States and has taken important steps to end the conflict and improve humanitarian access in Sudan and to strengthen regional stability. However, to achieve full and sustainable peace in the Sudan need to make more progress and to cooperate with the US against a number of priorities of the administration, including further expansion of humanitarian access and improving the Sudan in the field of human rights and religious freedoms”, – is spoken in the message.
The state Department added that the US expects that the government of the Sudan to implement the resolutions of the UN Security Council on North Korea.
