It is possible that Moscow is supplying weapons to the Taliban.
So says the commander of U.S. and NATO mission in Afghanistan, General John Nicholson.
“I wouldn’t challenge,” the General said Monday, April 24, at a press conference in Kabul, responding to a journalist’s question about possible deliveries of Russian weapons to the Taliban. Statement of the American General was made during the visit of the Pentagon chief James Mattis, who visited us troops in Afghanistan, says Reuters.
Nicholson has repeatedly talked about the “evil influence” of Russia on the situation in Afghanistan. In February, he said that Moscow is actively trying to legitimize the radical Islamist movement “Taliban”, claiming that it helps in the fight against the terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG).
The new charges came from the mouth of General Nicholson, has caused negative reaction of Moscow.
“These statements are not serious, and they are too boring to comment on,” said April 24, the Agency “Interfax” in the Russian foreign Ministry. Call charges supply of weapons “unfounded” and believe that the Americans are trying to shift to Russia responsibility for their own mistakes.
