The United States decided to open a global network to combat Russian influence

A global system of counteraction to information influence of Russia abroad are going to create US in 2019-2020. About this informed the newspaper “Izvestia” with reference to two sources in the political circles, familiar with the situation.

In particular, the United States plans to launch a worldwide network of National centers of digital forensics. The work will involve local media and NGOs. For this purpose, can be used companies such as Google, Facebook and Twitter.

According to the publication, this spring, three of the pilot project will start in Georgia and in the Balkans and in the Baltic States.

“The main task of these offices is to identify and prevent the impact of Moscow on public opinion in these States”, — said the interlocutor of the newspaper.

He said that in countries where there will be such centres, part of the population sympathetic to Russia and Russian authorities. Accordingly, the purpose of the projects — dealing with such trends.

Moreover, the network will monitor for identifying “facts of Moscow’s interference in the electoral processes.” The US will test these methods in next March’s presidential elections and the vote in the European Parliament. It will be held in may.
