The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution condemning Washington’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, by an overwhelming majority.
Of the 193 member States of the UN, 128 voted for the resolution, nine States voted against, and 35 abstained. US President, Donald trump, in turn, promised to carefully study the situation.
In addition to the United States and Israel against a draft resolution condemning the decision of Donald trump to Jerusalem, voted countries such as Guatemala, Honduras, Micronesia, Republic of Nauru, Republic of Palau and the Marshall Islands.
Representatives of 21 countries did not participate in the voting, among them Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, Romania, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Argentina, Mexico, Canada, Australia, Paraguay, Philippines, Kenya, Mongolia, Lithuania.
Some media reported about a hint of Donald trump to impose financial restrictions on States which support the text of the UN resolution. Because of this pressure of Washington, 35 countries have decided to abstain from voting, and 21 did not vote.
