The Ukrainian chess player disqualified because of the scandalous letter

Natalia Zhukova was suspended for three months probation.

The Ukrainian grandmaster, the winner of the chess Olympiad and world team championship Natalia Zhukova received a three month disqualification for a letter with a request to delay the broadcast of the games in the Internet.

The scandal occurred two years ago at the European championship, which, by the way, Zhukov won.

Then 32 participants of the tournament signed an open letter with a request to delay the broadcast of the games in the Internet, fifteen the following message mentioned the name Sandu, actually accusing her of cheating. The Romanian was leading the race after five rounds, and then some more stayed in the leading group, and then raise the noise and hide the parties from live broadcast failed the end of the championship.

At the end of the tournament, Sandhu filed a complaint with the Commission FIDE ethics. She was investigated with representatives of the anti-cheat of the Commission and ruled:

All fifteen players guilty of violating article 2.2.11 of FIDE code of ethics. They “recklessly and unjustifiably accused Mihaela Sandu cheating than hurt and discredited her reputation for fair players”.

Natalia Zhukova was banned for three months to play in any tournaments. And then: “the Punishment suspended for one year, provided that Zhukov will not again convicted of irresponsible and unjustified prosecution of any of the other players in the course of this year”.

Ukrainian was the main driving force of the protest in Tbilisi, but at the end of the championship said that a request in writing have requested the chief justice, otherwise no action he could take was not going:

“Perhaps they were hoping that I don’t want to spend the time writing the text. And really, I’d prefer only to prepare for the party, but, alas, I have no choice”, – quotes the words Zhukova chess-news.

Undue prosecution of anyone in cheating is a serious crime, – stated in the document, but in this case the punishment is reduced for two reasons: first, it marked the illiterate behaviour of officials during the conflict, and secondly, took into account the fact that after the incident, it’s been a long time.

Disagree with the conclusions of the Commission may file a protest by may 10.
