GM introduced its vision for the future of trucks: unmanned platform SURUS motor at each axle.
A new concept SURUS was designed specifically for military purposes and are presented at the specialized exhibition.
SURUS is equipped with two electric motors and a block of lithium-ion batteries, which provide cruising range of over 400 miles (about 643 kilometers). Moreover, the platform equipped with specially designed suspension and a system of Autonomous control.
SURUS can be used not only for military purposes. It can be a mobile power station with solar powered, ambulance for driving on difficult roads, the truck or the loading platform.
Reporters noted that the official SURUS is an abbreviation from the words “Silent Utility Rover Universal Superstructure”. But, apparently GM specialists decided to call the concept in honor of the Surus – war elephant of Carthaginian General Hannibal.
