Press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov told reporters that the information the Japanese media about the imminent transfer of the Kuril Islands for temporary use not true.
— It is not clear the origin of this information. It is not true, — said the representative of the Kremlin.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe expressed dissatisfaction with the strengthening of Russia’s military presence in the southern part of the Kuril Islands during the summit held in December last year, talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He intends to continue negotiations with Russia to carry out joint economic activities at all the South Kuril Islands.
