Oil and gas Association of Ukraine (NAU) is in favour of increasing the excise tax on liquefied natural gas from 52 euros/thousand litres to 107 Euro/1 thous. l As described in the Association, a proposal was sent to the Finance Ministry, Fiscal authorities and tax Committee of the Verkhovna Rada for review.
Also, this question was discussed at the meeting of the working group of the Ministry of Finance on changes to the Tax code.
The Association believes that in this way get rid of the distortions in the excise tax on gasoline/diesel and liquefied gas, and to help these markets to grow at the same pace.
If the initiative still comes to fruition, it will certainly hit the wallets of motorists.
“The increase in excise tax on propane in 2 times will pay every motorist out of your pocket. The retail price of gas filling stations will be higher for 2 UAH. And given the devaluation of the hryvnia in the budget for 2018, the price increase of liquefied petroleum gas will go up to 2.50 UAH per 1 liter. Leaders of professional associations of taxi drivers and gas equipment have claimed that gas can arrange a riot. If our officials raise the excise tax in the framework of the implementation of European directives, then it is necessary to raise the excise duty on petrol and diesel,” – said the Director of “Ukravtogaz” Andrei Dorofeev.
