The Russians went to prison for trying to sell tank

“Businessman” decided to save on duty and received 3 years probation for smuggling historical value.

The court of Chelyabinsk region has sentenced a resident of Moscow sentenced to three years of imprisonment conditionally with a trial period in one and a half years for attempting to illegally transport rare T-34 tank across the border to Kazakhstan.

The man devised a scheme: he bought a tank Museum exhibit in Latvia for 20 thousand euros and found a buyer in Kazakhstan, which was willing to purchase it for 230 thousand euros. He took him by train to Russia, having as the subject of historical collecting. However, to smuggle into Kazakhstan decided not putting in documents that have a historic value, not to pay heavy fee. The cargo at the border was detained and confiscated.

The owner of the tank was detained and accused of smuggling of cultural values. The court found him guilty.
