The cormorants are sea birds – destroy the integrity of the reflective film on the roof of the stadium “Central”, told the Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg Igor Albin.

According to officials, a protective film roof can withstand a load up to 400 kilograms per square meter, but can not cope with the attack of cormorants.

“Was a right protection of birds. There is a famous bird – a cormorant, which its powerful beak destroys the integrity of the reflective film. In this case requires a complete project for the protection of birds, by analogy with airports,” said Albin.

On 22 July it was reported that at the home stadium of the St. Petersburg “Zenith” “Krestovsky” the roof leaked.

The stadium on Krestovsky island was commissioned in December last year. The construction lasted almost 10 years, the total cost has been revised upwards and close to 50 billion rubles.
