Sanctions called “anti-Russian attacks”.
The foreign Ministry of Russia called “anti-Russian attacks” the new US sanctions against Russia, imposed because of a violation of the Treaty on the elimination of intermediate and short range.
This is stated in the statement of the Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Ryabkov, published on the website of the foreign Ministry.
“In Washington could think of no better time than recorded December 8, the 30th anniversary of the Treaty on the elimination of intermediate and shorter-range missiles (INF Treaty), to make threats to his partner under the agreement, which became one of the cornerstones of the process of limitation and reduction of nuclear weapons,” – said in a statement.
The Russian foreign Ministry claim that the US charges about the violation by Russia of the Treaty are “completely unfounded in nature.”
In a statement, Ryabkov indicated that “anti-Russian propaganda campaign in the context of the INF Treaty” can be a sign that Washington is embarked on the way out of this agreement.
According to him, if the U.S. withdraws from the Treaty, Russian President Vladimir Putin will be forced to give a “mirror response”.
“As for the usual attempts to scare us with sanctions, they are simply ridiculous”, – said the Russian foreign Ministry.
