The results of the referendum on independence for Kurds

The majority of Kurds were in favor of independence from Iran.

The turnout for the plebiscite on the independence of Iraqi Kurdistan in Northern Iraq amounted to 78%. About it with reference to the local radio station.

Reportedly, despite pressure from the Iraqi authorities, which also includes Kurdish autonomy, and the protests of Turkey and Iran in the turnout of 5.2 million people.

According to media reports, the majority of participants of the referendum voted for the independence of Kurdistan from Iraq.

The counting of votes has already started. It is expected that the results will be announced within 72 hours, i.e. not earlier than the evening of Tuesday, 26 September 2017.
