A remake of the well-known in narrow circles of gore movie “blood feast” had originally planned to release rental in the spring, then the release was postponed to June, and is now in theatrical release in the U.S. the tape of Marcel Waltz will be released only on July 28, 2017, release to home video planned for Halloween, while premiere on VOD services will be held at all only in January 2018. Also, hard age limit of NC-17 will be downgraded to the rating of R.
The creators of the remake while not overjoyed, because this film was not planned to show in cinemas. In the end, the original film of Hershel Gordon Lewis was originally a hit just on video. However, the new project is in high demand, so, as reported, eventually the film will get about 7300 sessions in 500 theaters in the U.S. and 160 in Canada.
Unfortunately, this is related to the rating battle. Of course, for a movie with a rating of NC-17 is similar, a rental could not be. Therefore, some particularly bloody scenes will be out of the picture for theatrical hire cut for assigning a rating R.
Director Marcel Walz says in this regard:
On the one hand, I don’t like that once announced the premiere date postponed again and again. But the fact is, it’s the best thing that could happen to the “Bloody feast” (and horror fans) in North America.
Thus, there will be two versions of the remake. One censored under an R rating, and the other, without censorship edits. When, how, and what of them make it to Russia – yet we can only guess.
