Golunov has received a letter of apology to the prosecution for unreasonable criminal prosecution.
In the letter from the Prosecutor of the Western district of Moscow says that the journalist has the right to apply to court for compensation for material and moral damages.
MOSCOW, February 14. /TASS/. The journalist the Internet-editions Meduza Ivan Golunov, who became a victim in the case about his illegal detention, and received an apology from prosecutors for unjustified criminal prosecution. About this in his Telegram-channel was reported by the journalist.
“I received a letter from the Prosecutor of the Western district of Moscow”, – he wrote. The letter States that the journalist has the right to apply to court for compensation for material and moral damages.
PROKURATURA Western administrative district of Moscow on 5 February reported that it had sent journalist Ivan Golunov an official apology in connection with unreasonable criminal prosecution.
6 Jun 2019 Golunov was detained in Moscow on suspicion in sale of drugs, June 8, he was placed under house arrest. After which began a public campaign in support of journalist he was released June 11. 19 December 2019, it became known that on the fact of illegal detention of Golunova criminal case about excess of powers of office by police officers. Later, the journalist was recognized as a victim in this case.
Basmanny court on 30 January arrested the former chief of Department for combating illicit trafficking of heroin, synthetic narcotics and dangerous drugs of the Department for control over drug trafficking of the internal Affairs Directorate of CJSC Moscow Igor Lyakhovets, the former employees of Department Denis Konovalov, Roman Feofanova, Akbar Sergalieva and Maxim Umetbaeva. They are accused under articles about excess of powers of office, falsification of evidence and illegal drug trafficking. None of the defendants not guilty.
Earlier the General Prosecutor’s office refused to officially apologize Golunova, noting that “apology rehabilitated for the harm brought by the Prosecutor, directly supervising the criminal case”.
