Skyscrapers will be built in the trunks of trees.

At the recent architectural competition “Skyscrapers of the future” of particular interest was the innovative project “Monument to a giant.”

Its authors, architects from the U.S., propose to build a high-rise building inside the trunks of giant Redwood trees, decayed with time. Thus it is possible to grow a city in a forest, almost breaking the landscape.

The project of American architects not only offers cheap and economical accommodation for people, but also contributes to the preservation of the natural landscape. Skyscrapers is proposed to be located in trunks of giant sequoias, which had rotted from time. Oddly enough, this will help keep the tree – at least outwardly: because otherwise rotten barrel will certainly collapse.

Sequoias – the largest free-standing trees in the world: the average height of their – 50 – 85 meters, the width of the trunk is 6-8 meters. In addition, sequoias differ in longevity: some may boast of the age in 3000 years.

A project of the American architects created specifically for the Sierra Nevada – the place where ancient giant sequoias grow naturally. He was represented at the international architectural competition “Skyscrapers of the future.”

According to the authors of the project, it “offers a new architectural approach to the harmonious coexistence of man with nature. The architecture hides in the floors and trunks without breaking the stunning landscape formed of wood giants. The building becomes like an artificial body, replacing the rotten insides of the tree.”

Perhaps soon people will live here in such splendid forest of skyscrapers!
