European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker hopes to complete the procedures related to the ratification of the Association Agreement, the summit Ukraine – EU which will take place July 13, 2017 in Kiev.
He said this, commenting on the completion of this procedure in the Senate of the Netherlands.
“Today’s vote in the Dutch Senate is an important signal from the Netherlands and the European Union to our Ukrainian friends: the place of Ukraine in Europe. The future of Ukraine is with Europe. I would like to thank the Netherlands government and the leadership of other parties for their efforts to achieve a positive completion of this process. We are at the very end. Our Association agreement, including deep and comprehensive free trade area, is now one step closer to ratification. I wish the process was over quickly, just in time for the July summit of the EU-Ukraine”, – quotes Juncker, the press service of the European Commission.
He hopes that today’s decision of the Netherlands will give impetus to strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union.
Recall that the Netherlands must transmit the instrument of ratification in Brussels, after which the Council of the European Union can a special decision to enter the Association Agreement in effect on an ongoing basis.
In 2014 the Association agreement was worked in a temporary mode.
