During anti-American demonstrations in the city of Karachi in Pakistan, police used tear gas and batons against the participants.
“The Pakistani police on 27 August used tear gas and batons to disperse anti-American demonstrations in Karachi, while in the capital, Islamabad – the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Pakistan announced the cancellation of the visit of the chief of the U.S. delegation,” – said in the message.
It is reported that the special representative of Washington in Pakistan and Afghanistan Alice Wells planned to arrive in Islamabad on August 28 for meetings with Pakistani officials. Reasons why the visit of the delegation was canceled, not declared, but it is, as suggested, due to the demand of the President of Donald trump to the leadership of Pakistan to stop providing sanctuary to the Afghan Taliban.
“At the request of the government of Pakistan visit of the US delegation was postponed to a mutually beneficial time,” – reads the statement of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Pakistan.
