Some pilots choose a crazy way to commit suicide.
On Sunday morning 26 September 1976 pilot Vladimir Serkov has sent the an-2 aircraft without passengers in a five-storey residential building located at Stepnaya street, house 43/1. The collision and ensuing fire killed 11 people, including pilot. During the investigation it was established that in the house lived the wife Serkova that shortly before the tragedy left him and took the baby.
Suicide among pilots, though rare, but still happen. Over the last 30 years only in the USA at least 44 pilot tried to commit suicide, deliberately sending their planes into the ground. According to the materials of the investigation the National safety Board (NTSB), the pilot-suicides were male and most of them were acutely conscious of parting with girls or wives, or they had problems with the law.
Andreas Lubitz, flight 9525 Germanwings
1. Andreas Lubitz
9525 flight took off at 10:01 on 24 March 2015 from Barcelona and headed for düsseldorf. On Board the “Airbus A320” there were 144 passengers and six crew members. They all died in the crash. The plane began to descend from the assigned altitude of 11 kilometers at 10:31. Communication with the airliner was lost at an altitude of about two miles in 10:40.
The data transponder of the aircraft showed that the autopilot was programmed to decrease to 30 meters. The attention of investigators focused on 27-year-old second pilot Andreas Lubitz, who was locked in the cockpit with the clear intention to send the plane into the ground.
German Bild has published decoding of negotiations of pilots of the flight, from which it is clear that shortly after takeoff Lubitz was left in the cabin alone. Captain Patrick Soundengineer complained that he was not able to go to the toilet before takeoff and after class tier and standard check Andreas Lubitz said the captain: “you Can go now.” Soundengineer gave him control of the plane and left the cabin.

The exact motives of Lubitch is still not determined, but German investigators said that the pilot was concealed from the airline of their disease, and in the day of the disaster in his apartment found a torn sick leave. Lubitz passed the annual medical examination last summer. The official representative of the Lufthansa, whose subsidiary is Germanwing, said that such surveys do not provide psychological testing of pilots.
Jamil El Battuti, EgyptAir flight 990 (1991)

3. Broken “Embraer-190” “Mozambican airlines”
Two years before the tragedy Germanwings very similar accident occurred in Mozambique. The voyage of the “Mozambican airlines” crashed with 33 people on Board. Captain Herminio DOS Santos Fernandes had autopilot on programmirovanie fall.

TSU Wai Ming, SilkAir flight 185 (1997)
4. “Boeing 737” that crashed over the island of Sumatra
The SilkAir flight MI185 took off from Jakarta at 15:23 local time on 19 December 1997 and moved to Singapore. The weather was clear, the plane was almost new. At the height of 10 600 meters over the island of Sumatra, “Boeing 737” suddenly lowered the nose and began high-speed dive until it fell into the river. All 104 people on Board were killed.
The plane crashed into the ground with such force that the largest piece of the fuselage was no longer than three meters. Rescuers recovered only fragments of bodies. the Investigation found that the cockpit voice recorder and the plane’s flight recorder was disabled prior to the fall.

Chris Fatso, the pilot was suicidal, “air Botswana”, 11 October 1999, crashed his plane, killing almost the entire fleet of the airline.
Fatso flew into the airport named after Seretse ham, and hovered over him for nearly two hours. He contacted the dispatcher on the radio and said: “I’m going to kill myself”.
The pilot demanded that he be allowed to speak with the Vice President of Botswana Ian Khama and, according to General Manager of “air Botswana” Joshua Gailforce, intended to send a plane directly to the office of Vice-President. Thus Fatso wanted to settle scores with the leadership of the company. Dispatchers were able to convince the pilot that there are innocent people, and then Fatso sent the aircraft into two other ATR-42 standing on the runway.
Fatso was dismissed from the company for health reasons and sat behind the wheel illegally. “He was written off on the ground, as the doctors of “air Botswana” considered him incompetent,” said John Williams, commercial Director of the national carrier. Information from other sources, Fatso repeatedly warned the airport authorities that he was going to commit suicide.
After this incident, the fleet of “air Botswana” was virtually destroyed. The airline had only one aircraft BAe-146, which at the time was on the repair.
Seiji, Katagiri, flight 350 “Japanese airlines” (1982)
6. Aircraft of Japan airlines crashed in Tokyo Bay
In 1982, 35-year-old captain of Japan airlines Seiji Katagiri at landing have deliberately included the reverse of the engines, which led to a loss of height. 24 people were killed out of 174.

Younes Khayati, flight 630 Royal Air Maroc (1994)
7. The crashed aircraft ATR-42-312
21 Aug 1994, a 32-year-old pilot, Royal Air Maroc Younes Khayati deliberately crashed ATR-42-312, killing 40 passengers and 4 crew members. The cause of the suicide pilot was a love failure.
The second pilot of the flight sent a distress signal, but was unable to keep his coworker from committing suicide. The last word co-pilot Sofia Fukugi before the collision with the ground was recorded by the voice recorder: “Help! Help! Captain…”
According to the report of the Commission of inquiry, Hayati disconnected the autopilot and sent the plane to the ground, which was a certain proof of a deliberate desire of the captain to commit suicide.
The plane crashed in the Atlas mountains, ten minutes after takeoff, the flight made a flight from Agadir to Casablanca. Among the dead were a US citizen, the Prince of Kuwait, and eight Italians.

8. The plane Bombardier CRJ-200 aircraft
In 2012, Brian George. Hedglin, being under investigation on suspicion of the murder of his ex-girlfriend, stole a plane. Forty-year-old pilot brought the aircraft to the runway of the airport in St. George, Utah, began taking off, and then shot himself.

9. Residential home, the victim of An-2 aircraft
Early in the morning of 26 September 1976, Vladimir Serkov has made an unauthorized takeoff of the An-2 from the Northern airport in Novosibirsk. Making a circle over the city at extremely low altitude, he sent his plane straight into a house.
An-2 crashed into the five-story building between third and fourth floors near the stairs, breaking a hole in the wall with a diameter of about two meters. The collision caused a fire that killed himself and 4 Serkov resident of this house.
During the investigation it became clear that in the house lived an ex-wife Serkova with their child. Apparently, the pilot decided to commit suicide and at the same time take revenge on his ex-wife. However, neither her, nor someone else who would be relevant to Serkovo, at that moment in the house was not.
