On the website of the Kyiv city Council e-petition is a proposal to rename the Avenue of Heroes of Stalingrada Prospekt Geroev UPA, reports UNN citing the website of e-petitions KGS.
“At a time when Russian weapons killing Ukrainian soldiers, terrorizing the civilian population of Donbass and destroy the Ukrainian cities and villages, it is unacceptable to glorify historical victory of Russian arms. The fighters of the OUN-UPA fought for an independent Ukrainian state, and we need to educate the younger generation on the example of our heroes and not hostile. So-called “defenders of Stalingrad” – are irrelevant to the struggle of Ukrainian people for our independence, and therefore this title should be changed, since it carries no historical value to memory of the Ukrainian people”, – said the author of the petition Kondratyuk Ivan.
Petition received on 16 votes out of the 10 thousand necessary. The collection of votes will last for another 89 days.
