The British Parliament has allocated to the owners of Facebook and Twitter three weeks to provide detailed information on how Russia is using their social network, intervened in the referendum on the UK exit from the EU (Brexit).
If detailed information is not submitted to Parliament, investigating Russian intervention in the referendum on Brexit, until 18 January 2018, the social network will be subject to sanctions, said the Chairman of the parliamentary Committee for culture, media and sport Damien Collins.
He called “inadequate” the response of social networks to obtain information that has previously provided reports that do not satisfy the MP.
“You need to get the opportunity for a thorough examination of procedures used by companies like Facebook to help them identify sources of misinformation, particularly when it is politically motivated and coming from a different country,” said Collins.
