He will be involved in the operation of landing the Rover on the Red planet.
NASA tested a parachute designed to land the Rover on Mars, the mission planned for 2020. The video was posted on YouTube-channel NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
The video shows how the experiment on the Black Brant IX rocket from wallops flight facility in Virginia was launched payload (instrumentation and parachute).
And at an altitude of 42 km a parachute was deployed. After 35 minutes load splashed down in the Atlantic ocean, 54 miles from wallops island.
The test was deemed successful. Thus the parachute, according to experts, is almost an exact copy of the system that was deployed during the descent to the Red planet the Curiosity Rover.
