The new Mazda6 will be available by 2020.
The basis of the new RWD sedan will form the architecture of FR, which will be provided by Toyota under the agreement on cooperation between the two Japanese automakers. On this same chassis will be built the new sports car Mazda RX-9 rotary engine, which will also appear by 2019. The prototype of this model, which is a modernized and turned version of the concept car RX—Vision, will debut at the end of October this year at the Tokyo motor show.
As for the next Mazda6, its engine range will include new petrol engines SkyActive-X, which will become the world’s first mass such units with compression ignition, not spark.
In these engines the fuel-air mixture is easy to ignite in the cylinder during the compression process, as occurs in diesel power units. In the SkyActive engines-X will still use traditional spark plugs, which will be triggered at high loads.
