Photograph of the eruption in one of the most active volcanic regions in the world taken from space was published this week. Spectacular photo appeared thanks to satellite observation of the earth’s surface.
This eruption of Shiveluch, a massive volcano located on the Kamchatka Peninsula, near the coast of the Pacific ocean. The volcano rises to 3,282 feet above sea level and behaves similarly to the volcanoes located in the nearby Aleutian Islands, which belong to the American Alaska. The photograph shows that the Shiveluch jets of ash moving to the West. Next also seen the eruption of a smaller volcano Nameless, but he is spewing steam rather than ash, the jet of which goes to the South.
The photo was taken from space satellites ASTER, which is a joint project of the United States and Japan. The satellite monitors the movement of glaciers, potentially active volcanoes, degradation of coral reefs, the temperature of the surface of the soil and thermal pollution.
The volcanoes themselves have helped scientists learn more about ancient plants. Millions of years ago volcanic ash was deposited in ancient redwoods and giant Sequoia after volcanic eruptions, creating a petrified forest that paleontologists can study in such places as the island of UNGA, Alaska.
