The NBU has simplified the customers of banks the procedure for conducting currency transactions.
The national Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has simplified the procedure of operations of the Bank clients for foreign currency purchase/transfer of funds outside Ukraine in favor of non-residents and changed the order of controls to prevent the risk of foreign exchange transactions in the banking market. This reports the press service of the regulator.
In particular, Bank customers do not need to wait for the NBU approval for the conduct of foreign currency transactions. The authorized banks inform the national Bank about such transactions customers after their meeting.
In the case of the NBU to doubt the legitimacy of operations, the Bank may be sent to the requirement that the NBU, in particular, may suspend the implementation of individual foreign exchange transactions of customers. To resume such operations the Bank will be able only after receiving a specific message from the NBU.
In addition, if the client currency transactions which have raised doubts in the NBU, went to the service to another banking institution, authorized Bank is obliged to notify the NBU.
The Bank in which the client opens the current account, has the right to contact previous acquiring banks according to information received from the NBU regarding suspicious transactions of the clients.
These changes were approved by the decree of NBU №15 from 28 February 2017 “On amendments to some legal acts of the National Bank of Ukraine”.
According to the decree, all the rules relating to the information by authorized banks of the NBU on foreign exchange transactions and verify controller this information, combined into a single instruction “On the procedure of formation of the authorised banks information file”.
The decree comes into force from 22 March 2017.
