In the Islands there is something mystical, as nature has created these corners of the land among the endless blue. So it was for centuries. But today, thanks to technology, people have learned to create man-made Islands and successfully engaged in this around the world. In this review, ten of the most amazing and stunning artificial Islands around the world.
1. Thilafushi
Thilafushi – an artificial island in the Maldives, to the West of malé. It was originally built for recovered coral reefs in 1992 as a dumping ground for more than 300 tons of trash. It is reported that the growth of this artificial island is approximately 0.92 per square meter per day, in the end, attracted entrepreneurs who took the island leased for industrial purposes.
2. Balboa
Balboa island in Newport Bay in California is a chain of three modified or artificial Islands, which includes Balboa island, little Balboa and Collins. There is a bridge that connects the community of Balboa Islands with the mainland, as well as walk around the ferry boats. Lives on the territory of 0.52 square kilometers, about 3000 people.
3. Tokyo Disneyland

The composition of this chain includes Biscayne, San Marco, San Marino, Di Lido, Rivo-Aldo, Belle-île and the Island, Flagler monument island, used for picnics. It was built in 1920.
6. Spiral
Spiral island in Mexico – a floating artificial island that was built by the British artist Richard “Reishi” Owl in 1998, from over a quarter-million plastic bottles. In the end, “Spiral island” was destroyed by hurricane Emily in 2005, but the artist rebuilt it, making it even bigger and better.
7. Campers-Ladies
In lake Kamfers Dam in the shape of a giant letter “S” was built in 2006 in the North Kimberley, South Africa. It is home to almost 50 000 flamingos.
8. The Pearl-Qatar
The pearl Qatar – an artificial island with an area of almost 4 million square metres in Doha, Qatar. He became the first territory in Qatar available for free possession of foreign nationals. Its population grew from 3,000 in 2011 to 12,000 in 2015. It is expected that this project will create recreational facilities for residents and tourists.
9. Uros
Islands of Uros in Peru, made from reeds growing along the edges of lake Titicaca, by combining bundles of cane in the entire floating island platforms. Each of these artificial floating Islands are 2 to 10 houses made of reeds, and on the biggest island has a watchtower.
10. Peberholm

11. THUMS
The THUMS Islands in the Bay of San Pedro is a set of artificial Islands off the coast of long beach, California. They were built in 1965 to get to the oil fields of Wilmington. This is the only in USA artificial oil Islands with high structures that hide the rigs, but it is planted with greenery.
12. Heart of Amwaj
The archipelago of the heart of Amwaj in Bahrain is a group of artificial Islands in the Persian Gulf, which was covered in shallow water. It was an innovative project to provide 100% free of ownership to foreigners in Bahrain. Heart of Amwaj recently became fit for habitation, as on the Islands was completed creating a full infrastructure, complete with commercial and residential buildings, hotels and a circular harbour.
13. Swan
Swan island (Île aux Cygnes) in France is a small artificial island on the river Seine in Paris. It was built in 1827 as the levees that protect the port of Grenelle. It is crossed by three bridges and a pedestrian path. One of the main features of this island is a replica of the “Statue of Liberty” is 4 times smaller than the original.
14. Archipelago “The World”
The world Islands (archipelago “the World”) in the Persian Gulf – an artificial archipelago, is made up of small Islands, which total shaped like the continents of the Earth. They are located at a distance of about 100 meters from each other and were made of sand reclaimed in the shallow coastal waters of Dubai.
15. Palm trees
Palm island (Palm Jumeirah) – one of three sets of artificial Islands off the coast of Dubai, UAE. The name they got due to the fact that was erected in the shape of palm trees.
