The famous escape from Alcatraz.
To protect the Bay of San Francisco during the gold rush in the mid 19th century on the island of Alcatraz was built a Fort. Subsequently, it was adapted first as a military prison, and then to curseswindow prison for dangerous criminals, from which escape was impossible.
