The envoy of the self-proclaimed DND in the contact group on Ukraine Denis Pushilin said the words of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who called the idea of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the deployment of UN peacekeepers in the Donbass.
“For the entry of peacekeepers requires the consent of both parties to the conflict. In this case, one side is Ukraine, and the other of the DNI and LC. Therefore, without our input position contingent would be impractical. I doubt that Ukraine will turn its lobby, despite the support of the West,” explained Putilin.
He noted that on the territory of DND, the situation is calm, “the more she is calm on the border with Russia.”
“If there’s peace initiative, and not some veiled goal of entering the UN contingent, of course, it must be placed where there is a danger, in particular, for the staff of the OSCE,” – said the envoy.
However, he believes that the conflict would have been resolved, “if not for such support” of Ukraine by Germany, France and the United States.
“For them, probably a higher priority are the interests of non-citizens DND and LNR, and politicians. But history remembers what happened in Croatia, the Serbian Krajina, what was Yugoslavia, so for us this is not an option. “- said the envoy.
