It’s a protected nature reserve, which grow the largest cypress forests on the planet.

Picturesque lake Caddo, striking natural landmark of the state of Texas, appeared on the river the Red river in the early nineteenth century.

Initially, the debris and logs have become a cause of jamming on the river, and then it was continued by industrious beavers, dostrovsky a powerful dam.

The river was completely blocked, and the dam became a lake with a rather impressive area equal one hundred and six square kilometers. A real decoration of the reservoir is the surrounding landscape consisting of lianas, trees, shrubs and, of course, cypress forests, which are the largest in the world.

In these parts of the swamp cypress trees reach the fifty-meter height, the average tree age exceeds hundred years. Most of the trees are in the water, and they have the so-called “cypress knees”, a special root-shoots over the purpose of which is still puzzling to many experts. Giant cypress trees adorn the huge strands of moss that hang from whimsical trees, giving them fantastic views. The water in the lake, having a depth of about three meters, crystal clear, allowing visitors to easily see the inhabitants of the pond.

In some places the surface of the pond covered with green duckweed, noble Lotus flowers and water lilies. Near the lake is the town of Uncertain, the inhabitants of which have main income from the tourism industry, because every year it attracts thousands of travelers hoping to see a wonderful lake with prehistoric landscapes. Caddo – it is not only amazing scenery, but also great opportunity for fishing, because the waters of the lake are home to over seventy species of fish. With tackle, gear and boat will not have problems, because they can rent right on the coast.

The same tourists who wish to take a tour of the pond, it is suggested to rent a catamaran or speedboat. In his first trip around the lake better to take a guide, because a lot of time to spend in search of the way back to the pier. Do not forget about caution, because in the pond inhabited by alligators even though they prefer to hide at the sight of tourists.
