The magic of special effects: what we never saw in the prequel/remake of “the thing” (2011)

Leaching – and failed miserably in oblivion, collecting all over the world only $ 27 million with a budget of 38 “millions”. At the same time, strangely, the movie pretty high ratings on IMDB and Kinopoisk, 6/6,5 points, a pretty good indicator for horror. The story is about an alien creature, able to pretend to be human, was coined by writer John Campbell, carpenter turned it into a celebration of naturalistic makeup and special effects, and the creators of “Something” sample in 2011 – had Packed not the best quality CGI. It is the latter most often remembered, when people criticize the prequel, giving credit for the attention to detail, acting and the overall atmosphere.

The most annoying is that the company studioADI really have been working hard sculpting for the prequel and the animatronics and special makeup. And they from time to time post on my YouTube channel a video showing the special effects that were created for “Something”. Admire:

We have previously posted another similar video, so if you missed – check it out. But along the way – participate in our survey. What makes more of an impression – computer graphics, CGI, or graphic effects with the use of makeup and animatronics?
