Alesio de Andrade over 40 years assembled a collection of photos about the visitors of the Louvre.
The Louvre is not only a Museum, in which funds are stored works of art, the Louvre itself is a tourist attraction with a worldwide reputation. Brazilian photographer Alesio de Andrade for the last forty years with an enviable regularity visited halls of the main Museum of France. Paintings he already knew these by heart, however, attracted him not only (and not so) paintings of great artists, but… visitors who come to admire them. Thanks to the work of Alesio everyone today has a unique opportunity to look at how high art is reflected in us, the audience.
Alesio de Andrade, a famous Brazilian photographer, representative of the classical school. He was born in 1938, received his law degree, but quickly realized that his calling poetry and photography. With camera in hand, he spent most of his life: wherever he travelled, he always took her with him. Alesio loved to watch people, because the most famous of his photocycle made in the genre of street photography.
Dynamic black-and-white pictures perfectly convey the mood and emotions. Often Alesio, watching the visitors to the Museum, notices subtle details, picks up harmony in poses, facial expressions, gestures or even clothing. External emphasizing the contrast between the epochs (the ancient canvas of painting, and considering their audience), the author shows that human nature remains unchanged. This may be the wave of the hand, turn head, smile or, conversely, anger, dialogue, or deep meditation.
A native of Brazil, Alesio de Andrade has lived many years in Paris. His work has been published in leading European magazines, he collaborated with Julio Cortazar and Alfred Brendel. A project about the visitors of the Louvre, he began in 1964, and to make a total of more than 12 thousands of photos. This is Titanic work and real cultural slice of the era.
