The life of Iranian families in the original project. Photo

Photographer dispelled many stereotypes.

“Iranian fathers and daughters,” a photo project Navis Motlak, which became the home of the Iranian family and captures the different young women and their fathers. Her own relationship with her father changed when he fell into a coma, while she lived in Malaysia. Navis says that after his father recovered, they got close and then she had the idea to make this series.

Matlak decided to make the project simple: she was acquainted with the heroes through friends and family and photographed them at home, accompanying each frame words daughters about their fathers.

The heroes of the project from different backgrounds and belong largely to different cultures. Some families are religious, others are secular beliefs. Matlak says the project helped her to get rid of many fears and prejudices. “The project shows how we are all different,” says the photographer.

The father of Zahra unemployed. “I don’t know what to say about it”.

Father Shima and Lina — Manager of civil projects. “Our father has studied in Europe, so it gives us that freedom.”

Father Mahsa veteran. “Dad is my hero, but I would like to once again become the carefree, happy person he was before.”

The father of Fatma, a farmer. “He’s working really hard.”

The father of Fatma, a librarian in the mosque. “People think that since my father is religious, he doesn’t give me freedom. This is not so. He allowed me to visit the national book fair when I was 15 years old.”

Shadi’s father is a businessman. “At heart he is a stubborn boy. With him is not so simple.”

Father Katun — retired soldier. “My friends think that he is too much worried about me, but he’s actually very supportive of me”.

Father Nyusha — engineer. “He works five days a week. We usually spend time together on the weekends”.

The father of Fatma — official. “He is a good father. Don’t know what to add”.

Arezoo’s father sells rugs. “He’s really funny. He amused people with his jokes.”
