The Juno probe flew over the Great red spot of Jupiter

Camera flying over one of the most interesting objects in the Solar system.

The Juno probe took a picture of the Great red spot, from a distance of 9 thousand kilometers.

Photos were taken by JunoCam camera during a close flyby on Jupiter July 11, 2017.

On the NASA website posted raw photos of this phenomenon. Scientists urged Internet users to help in processing of images. In particular, researchers need help in the color image reconstruction.

“Now we’ve got the best pictures of this famous storm. We need time to review all the information sent not only to the camera, JunoCam, but eight scientific instruments”, – said the representative of NASA’s Scott Bolton.

The great red spot is the largest atmospheric vortex in the Solar system. It has a size of about 40 thousand kilometers in length and 13 kilometers in width. The original images of this vortex can be seen on the project page.
