IMF will postpone the release of a new tranche of Ukraine due to the delay of reforms.
The allocation of the next tranche of financial assistance to Ukraine from the International monetary Fund (IMF) for the total of $17.5 billion will be deferred until the end of this year, because the Parliament does not adopt all the necessary reforms before the summer recess.
This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groisman.
“We have no time to do it (make the laws – ed.) before the holidays,” – said Groisman.
Thus, the fifth tranche in the amount of $1.9 billion, the IMF will provide until autumn, whereas previously the allocation was planned for June-July.
According to the calendar of Parliament, the last plenary week of the current 6-th session of the Parliament of the VIII convocation will be held from 11 to 14 July.
The reason for the delay in the allocation of the loan is the fact that the Verkhovna Rada did not support the pension and land reform before the summer holidays. The conduct of these reforms was a key requirement for disbursement of the next tranche of credit.
As writes the edition, if the pension reform, Parliament managed to vote in General and sent it back for revision, the land reform was not considered at all.
It is noted that the delay in tranche may prevent Ukraine to enter the international capital markets, reiterated by Finance Minister Alexander danyluk.
In this case, Groisman assured that the government remains committed to the program with the IMF.
“We are working on reforms, and the fifth tranche will come,” he said.
