The head of US state Department Michael Pompeo during his visit to Britain opposed the implementation of the project “Northern stream — 2”.
According to him, the US should not allow Russia to build a gas pipeline which can become a “lever of pressure” on Europe.
“Russia wants to be a Nord Stream 2 in order to use energy as a lever of pressure on Europe. We must not allow her to continue the project,” said Pompeo in a lecture in London.
Earlier, US Ambassador to the EU, Gordon Sandland said that Washington is “considering all the tools” to stop implementation of the project “Northern stream-2”.
