The Federation Council approved a law that from 1 January 2020 raises the minimum wage (SMIC). With the New year the minimum wage will be 12 thousand 130 roubles per month (currently 11 thousand 280 rubles). The law was passed by the Parliament on 12 December.
Recall now the minimum wage is calculated at the level not below the subsistence minimum for the second quarter of the previous year. The law will allow to raise a salary of about 3.2 million people, mainly in the public sector. For these purposes from the Federal budget will need to 20.9 billion rubles annually.
We will remind also that in January of 2018, it was reported that the minimum wage will equate to a living wage since may 1, 2018. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin. “We have positive dynamics of the Russian economy persists. We have the opportunity from may 1 this year to equalize the minimum wage and a living wage, we’ll do it,” — said Putin.
