The situation also affects a growing demand for poultry meat
The Association “Union of poultry farmers” explains the rise in poultry meat prices increase in the volume of exports in the 1st half while maintaining production volumes at the level of the same period last year.
This was reported by head of Association Sergey Karpenko.
“The volume of poultry meat production at the level of last year, for the 1st half of the year exports amounted 147,7 thousand tons, which is 42% higher than in 2016. The increase of export supply and plays a key role in raising domestic prices,” he said.
The expert added that the situation also affects a growing demand for poultry meat to which consumers switch from more expensive pork, with six months actual consumption decreased by 15 thousand tons.
The current situation only contributes to higher prices.
“For 6 months of the current year Ukraine produced 589,6 thousand tons of poultry meat in slaughter weight, which is 0.4% more than in the same period last year. Agricultural enterprises produced 507.7 m thousand tons, which is 0.9% more than in the same period last year”, – said the expert.
Given the trends of production figures for the 1st half of the year, the Association retains the forecast of poultry meat production of 1.18 to 1.19 million tonnes for the whole of 2017.

In addition, according to the website of the Association, for 7 months of Ukrainian enterprises exported 169,5 thousand tons of poultry meat, which is 31% higher than for the same period last year.
