The EU delegation to Ukraine urged Kiev to conduct a quick and transparent investigation into the murder of journalist Pavel Sheremet. This is stated in the statement of EU Ambassador in Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli Thursday, July 20.
“A year ago the Ukrainian civil society and media community lost one of the most talented and courageous journalists. A year ago Pavel Sheremet was murdered in cold blood. This tragedy still remains a source of sadness for his family and many friends and colleagues, who together with Pavel Sheremet defended freedom of the press and the public interest of the entire region,” – said in a statement.
Mingarelli noted that the trust of the citizens of Ukraine to law enforcement agencies is impossible without progress in the case.
“In the day of this tragic anniversary, I would like once again to urge the Ukrainian authorities to conduct a quick and transparent investigation of this crime. You need to find and bring to justice those responsible for committing such a horrible crime,” said the Ambassador.
