The EU imposed zero duties on shoes from Ukraine

Ukrainian shoes are quite competitive, said the Ministry of economic development and trade.

The EU reduced the duties on Ukrainian shoes to zero, according to Deputy Minister of economic development and trade Natalia Mykolskiy.

“We received a reduction of duties to zero for the industrial products, shoes, where previously the average fee was somewhere around 10-14%. Ukrainian shoes are quite competitive and we see that Ukrainian light industry shows a medium to high growth rates,” said Gaina.

Recall, the Ukrainian producers in just five months of the year totally chose quotas for deliveries in the EU of honey, sugar, cereals and flour, processed tomatoes grape and Apple juice, corn, poultry and butter.

According to the agreement between Ukraine and the EU on deep and comprehensive free trade area, which entered into force on 1 January 2016, quotas are imposed on the supply in the EU 36 product groups. Anything over the set limit, subject to duties.

In this regard, Ukraine has appealed to the EU to increase quotas. 17 July, the Council approved the temporary trade preferences for Ukraine.

The measures will come into force before the end of September and will apply for three years.
