Last year’s “Gods of Egypt” were another disappointing project Director Alex Proyas, but in his career he has at least two of the cult film “Dark city” 1998 release and, of course, “the crow” 1994 with Brandon Lee in the title role. As it turns out, Proyas against the new film adaptation of the comic book of the Crow, where, we recall, may star Jason Momoa.
The shooting of the remake (and technically it’s still a remake, no matter how much you have changed the concept of the first film) can start already in February with Corina hardy (“the Nun”) in the Director’s chair, and with the participation of the Creator of the original comics. Everything seems to be serious and serious people, so what unhappy Proyas?
Here is what he wrote on Facebook:
WHY I THINK “THE RAVEN” IS NOT NECESSARY TO CHANGE
I had the privilege of knowing Brandon Lee – he was a young extremely gifted actor with a great sense of humor and a bright future. I was lucky to call him my friend. Our working relationship of the actor and Director went beyond the usual cooperation. Together we have created a film that touched many people.
I didn’t put his name in the credits of “the Raven” as “bad about it”. I wanted it to was the movie of Brandon, because that’s what it was, and because he’s more nothing will be removed. All his passion he gave to this film, which became his legacy. I know he would be proud of this film.
I finished this film for Brandon – overcoming grief with the help of the cast and crew who loved Brandon. The power of his spirit permeated us all and became the inspiration for us. Not only his wonderful work as an actor and Director, but also his human qualities that touched us.
“The Raven” was not a film that should not change, if not for Brandon Lee. If not Brandon, then you may never would have known about this little underground comic book. This film is Brandon. I believe that this is a special case when Hollywood needs to let this film remain a Testament to immense talent and sacrifice – and it is not necessary that other people copied this story or something added to it. You know that was filmed sequels and a TV series, it’s all there, but the concept of “rebooting” the story, and “reset” the original image – character, which Brandon gave life, paying a very high price – it seems wrong to me.
Please let it be film Brandon.
Here’s a heartfelt speech. We will remind, if someone does not know about this sad story that a young actor Brandon Lee, son of Bruce Lee, was tragically killed on the set of “the Crow.”
