The Director of a new “Suspiria”: “This is not a remake”

Quite a long time have not received any news from curious remake of “Suspiria” taking as a basis the classical Italian horror master Dario Argento. Last time we heard about the film in June, when there were shots from the shoot with redhead Dakota Johnson and severe Tilda Swinton. And before that I managed to enjoy what the soundtrack to the film will be written by Radiohead vocalist Thom Yorke.

And now about your child reminds personally directed the new version, Luke Guadagnino. And he does it quite effectively – with the hope to “cut off” from the new “Suspiria” console “remake”:

Prior to the completion of only three months. This is a very special film and I’m very proud of him. And all the time think about how the audience will receive it, because it’s based on a real masterpiece. I often catch myself smile, when I hear the stories about what someone is going to remove, for example, the remake of the movie “8 and a half”, but I think not put me in the same light. And so I want to note that “Suspiria” for me – a very personal film, he’s like my own oxygen. When thirty-two years ago, I watched the original film, he made a strong impression on me and greatly influenced my career. And it is this feeling of mind-blowing emotions I wanted to explore.

About the difference of the new version and pictures Argento, Guadagnino explains:

The film is inspired by the same story but goes in another direction, exploring other causes. Of course, in the sense it is, but it is important that the audience understand that this is not a remake. The word “remake”, in my opinion, gives the impression that we should erase the original, and that’s not what we’re trying to do.

And Luke is right – we like his “Suspiria” or not, and the original is already not going anywhere, and hardly a picture can spoil the impression from the beautiful source.
