The deputies of the President’s faction voted to impeach the head of state

Impeachment is the only way to prosecute the President if his actions harm people

Kiev regional Council (KOS) appealed to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with a request to legislatively regulate the procedure of elimination from the post of President of Ukraine impeachment.

The official address to the Parliament, the regional Council was adopted at the meeting on 22 June. For this decision voted by 57 of the 62 deputies of a collegiate body of Kyiv, took part in the vote.

The decision was supported by all present at the meeting, the representatives of the factions “Batkivshchyna”, “RPL”, “Dill”, ”Self”, “Our land”, “the opposition bloc” and 3 members of the presidential faction “Solidarity”.

The Governor of the Kiev region, Alexander Gorgan, who is also the MP KOS from “Solidarity” was present in the session hall, but in the voting of a question on impeachment did not participate.

“We urge the Ukrainian Parliament to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities before the Ukrainian people and to settle all necessary legal procedures necessary to resolve the post of the President of Ukraine by the procedure of impeachment, in particular, to adopt a new Law of Ukraine “On temporary investigation commissions of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine” and to make the necessary changes in the Regulations of the Verkhovna Rada”, – the statement says.

In addition, members of KOS urged parliamentarians to designate the legal status of the special Prosecutor, special investigators, as well as the head, his Deputy, Secretary and members of the special temporary investigative Commission. These rules should be determined by a separate law of the Verkhovna Rada on special commissions.

As noted in the faction “Ukrainian Union “Fatherland” impeachment is the only way to get to the constitutional responsibility of the President if his actions harm people.

For this reason, according to deputies, “all the presidents were afraid and fear the adoption of the impeachment mechanism and block the elimination of the relevant gaps in the legislation”.

“We ask the citizens of Ukraine to support it in a legal way, either directly or through the authorities and local self-government, to defend their right to decide their own destiny and the destiny of the country”, – stated in the document.
