Studio Digital Extremes behind shareware shooter Warframe, without much fanfare announced that the development is a new project called Keystone.
The novelty is described as a competitive shooter with a first person, “which combines intense firefight with elements of the strategy building game deck”.
The developers plan to start closed alpha-testing, the exact date of which has yet to be announced. However, everyone can visit the project’s website and apply.
“The sustained success of Warframe allows us to generate a second internal command, which was totally new, and the same quality concept of the game, — said the head of Digital Extremes Sheldon Carter (Sheldon Carter). — Keystone was born from our experience in the world of first person shooters and the ability to mix genres, just as we did with Warframe. We believe that it is possible to expand the scope of what defines a good shooter, and I hope that our fans will see this potential and will take part in the project”.
The Keystone players will travel across the multiverse, made in the style of the 1970-ies and presents a virtual playing field. This journey will be done through the deck of cards, which are special bonuses, weapons and abilities of your characters. “Over time your deck can give an advantage not only to you but to the whole team, with decks of friends,” the authors add.
