Quarantine introduced in 35 kindergartens of Chelyabinsk due to cases of meningitis is children aged 3-6 years.

This was reported by the press service of Rospotrebnadzor in the region.

“In Chelyabinsk continues a seasonal rise in the incidence of enterovirus infection. In 77 cases the diagnosis was confirmed in children up to 17 years, of which half of cases are children 3-6 years old, including 38 children attended organized groups. Among them, identified 15 children with enteroviral meningitis. To date, quarantine measures in cases of introduction of infection under the supervision of specialists of Rospotrebnadzor conducted at 35 educational institutions”, — the press service quoted Deputy head of the Department Svetlana Luchinina.

Only in Chelyabinsk was 95 cases, including 44 – of enteroviral meningitis cases are registered in all districts of the city, with the lowest incidence in the Soviet and Central areas, she said.

Luchinina added that the epidemic rise of morbidity is recorded every 4-5 years, the latest increase marked in 2013 and was due to the emergence of enterovirus ECHO30.

It is established that in season 2017 discovered the same type of enterovirus ECHO30, reports luchinina.

According to the Department, the seasonal rise of morbidity is recorded from July to October, with a gradual increase of the disease and decline, with a maximum level in September. Management Rospotrebnadzor strongly recommends that the population use to drink only bottled or boiled water, to limit the admission of children in swimming pools to stabilize the epidemiological situation, to observe the rules of personal hygiene.
