The condition of “sustainable future” of the planet

Scientists have proposed a model for the development of Land.

German scientists have identified one of the most important conditions for a “sustainable future” of the planet. The corresponding publication is available on the library website electronic preprints arXiv.org.

“Given the current population level, our study also supports the assertion that, in addition to reducing global energy demand, only the widespread use of renewable sources of energy could pave the way to sustainable future”, — say the authors work.

In the present study, the researchers proposed a model of the Earth, describing a long-term evolution of natural and socio-economic (anthropogenic) subsystems of the planet. The construction of the authors based on the geochemical cycle of carbon, and their analysis shows that a crucial role in the contemporary balance is given to the human factor. The final results of the scientists presented in qualitative form (the bifurcation diagram).

Renewable energy sources are considered to be sunlight, water flows, wind, tides and geothermal heat. In some countries, e.g. China, these include nuclear power. A feature of such sources of energy is its practical inexhaustibility, unlike, for example, coal, oil and gas.
