The Chinese launched the first trackless train

Research Institute of railway companies CRRC launched its first trackless train in the Chinese province of Hunan.

Vehicle independently routes using built-in sensors and easy to maneuver on the track.

The construction of the first branch for trackless train is scheduled for 2018.

High-speed train with independent rails (ART) is a cross between a train and a bus. The vehicle is equipped with a rubber tire, so the ART can move on any public road.

However, unlike conventional bus, Chinese vehicles are equipped with sensors that determine the characteristics of the highway and adjust the route. In an interview with ChinaDaily, the developers compare the system of virtual rails, which moves the device.

The train consists of three cars with a total length of 30 meters, which can seat 300 passengers. Transport uses electric and can on one charge to go 40 miles at a maximum speed of 70 km/h. researchers from the CRRC noted that in terms of capacity and agility of ART superior to that of a bus, so plan to use to improve the efficiency of public transport in big cities.

According to China.org.cn, by 2020, 80 cities in China will get the status of the district is due to the increasing pace of urbanization in the country. However, 80% of small and medium-sized cities of China can not afford the construction of the metro, which is required to cope with the increased passenger load. According to engineers, the track ART for a length of 10 km will cost 1 billion yuan cheaper than a tram line. The construction of the subway is even more expensive — at 1 km would require 400 to 700 million yuan. One ART bus of average capacity will cost only 15 million yuan.

The city of Zhuzhou in Hunan province reported that the first line ART with a length of 6.5 km will appear in the center of the city. Its construction will begin in 2018.

To cope with the influx of new population to the cities, China is exploring other forms of public transport. In Hunan equip not only strip for hybrid buses and trains, but two new branches of low-speed trains with magnetic suspension. The first line for Maglev trains there in the province last year. In Zhuzhou branch with a length of 27.9 km, will open in three years after construction began.
