The club of the Russian football Premier League “Tambov” on the eve unveiled its new logo and corporate style, developed by athletic design Quberten. The logo of the “wolves” caused controversy and accusations of plagiarism from overseas.
Users of social networks noticed the similarity with the emblem of the Rugby team “Toronto”. Canadian club also drew attention to the confusion by making the appropriate entry on Twitter.
In Quberten do not see anything critical in its similarity with the logo of the canadian Rugby club. It is noted that the designers went through countless versions, so no plagiarism in their work there.
“If you look at our many options, it becomes clear that we wasn’t stealing, no plagiarism, no, – assured the portal Sport24 art Director Quberten Michael Antipin. – It happens when you step on the road of minimalism. Matches quite a lot, we get that a lot. Unfortunately, such situations often happen, but nothing critical. Our logo is a bit different in style. Yes, the design and the scheme is similar to Toronto, such intersections are”.
“We saw the letter “T” as the main letter of the city and the team, the second symbol, of course, was a wolf. Second choice was a bee, is also one of the symbols of Tambov. We tried the bee and the wolf to integrate, in principle it’s a similar idea. The very shape of a Pentagon panel of the ball, it’s just football. Just so happened that they were similar, so I don’t see in General no problem,” summed up Antipin.
Last summer, tambovchanka made it to RPL, has already had a rebranding. Instead of the coat of arms of Tambov region appeared Tambov wolf and the ball. However, due to unsuccessful, in the opinion of the football community design in the eve of the season 2020/21 club presented the new logo.
Last season the club finished in 14th place in the Premier League.
