The Cabinet approved a new draft energy strategy of Ukraine

“The basis of the new energy policy of the country fairly ambitious goal.”

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine at its meeting on Friday approved the draft Energy strategy of Ukraine until 2035.

The energy strategy of Ukraine is the basic document of the state energy policy defines the objectives of energy sector development in accordance with the needs of economic and social development for the period up to 2035, and formulates the tasks of the Executive authorities in the field of energy management.

“The basis of the new energy policy of the country rather ambitious goal of reducing the energy intensity of the economy doubled by the year 2030, an increase of Ukrainian production of both traditional and alternative sources of energy”, – quotes the press service of the government Vice Prime Minister Volodymyr Kistion.

According to the document, the new structure needs in the energy sector would look like this: nuclear energy by 2035 would result in 50% of the country’s electricity, from renewable sources – 25%, hydro – energy is 13% and the rest to be met through thermal power plants.
