The United States has provided important evidence to investigators in the case of the Malaysian Boeing-777 flight MH17, which was shot down in the skies over the Donetsk region in 2014. This was stated by the chief Prosecutor of the Netherlands Fred Westerbeke, who heads the international investigation team (JIT) in the case of MH17.
According to him, the investigation team got access to imagery of the area taken by U.S. satellites.
“Yes, we have them. Employee of my office, having access to intelligence material marked “top secret” and “state secret”, has seen and studied the satellite data available from the United States,” said Westerbeke.
He added that the United States has also provided investigators with a report that was used in the investigation.
“I assure you, is not always possible to see everything, even with the help of US satellites. Especially that day, as you remember, it was cloudy. I can’t say that the photographs, because they saw my Commissioner colleague with access to the data. He saw the report of the Americans with their conclusion, and these data are also used by us in the investigation,” said Westerbeke.
